BETHESDA, MARYLAND

Perched atop a rocky knoll overlooking a bend in the Potomac River, this new private residence embraces its challenging site while positioning the house to breathtaking views of the river beyond.

The floor plan creates an entry motor court fronted by large windows, a colonnaded formal porch and an intimate family entrance connecting to the garage and kitchen. The three story rear of the house shapes a private courtyard featuring multi level viewing terraces, a swimming pool and a vaulted loggia terminated by a stone fireplace.

The light and airy interior boasts a central gallery connecting the principal rooms of the house to the entry hall which features a sweeping double curved staircase. An enfilade of the living room, entry hall and dining room provides a grand gathering space with rooms that are intimately scaled. A large kitchen is adjacent to a comfortably scaled family room and a unique circular breakfast room with a dome ceiling.

Interior finishes include antique marble mantlepieces, aged hand finished oak flooring, custom millwork, and multiple bay windows framing stunning views of the River from most rooms in the house. The exterior of the house is built of handmade brick and topped with Ludowici ceramic roof tiles.
